Gardens, Jeans, Hockey and beans

HELLO WORLD :D

I awoke this morning extremely happy, maybe its the weather we had over the weekend but either way I feel great and you should to because we are all alive :D My dare to you is to say hi to someone you don't know this week and give them a smile, you will very much enjoy the response you get :D promise!

This unique jacket is now property of an interesting young man. He saw me wearing my extra long raw denim coat and was intrigued. I said he could try it on and of course it fit him perfectly, buttons were added to the top so he could close it when the weather was chilly. Again I sell something from my back, its funny how that keeps happening to me...

The photo I took of this fortune cookie turned out blurry, sorry for that, but the message struck me. "your hard work is about to pay off" the cookie predicted...will you come buy some of my clothing and make it come true :D :D :D :D

I don't know how many of you are following the playoffs, but I find myself waiting for the first intermission so I can see what Don Cherry has come to work in. Where does he get these crazy suits made? Who picks the fabric and do you think he ever refuses to wear any of them? What happens to them after hes worn them once? hmmmm a mystery for scooby doo no doubt

Again another week has passed and I seem to still be making clothing, weird? I think not, I love it!!!! This fresh pair of jeans for Derrick came out great, he can dress them up or down, but since spring has arrived, I suggest a crisp white tee or a little hit of colour :D

Well if you've been following the blog the last few weeks you might have noticed I enjoy a sunset or two. The colours that we are blessed to see in our prairie sky are nothing short of spectacular!!!

FLOWERSSSSSSSSSSSS :D YEAH YEAH YEAH :D :D :D
Taking a minute to smell and admire our ground friends will not only make the body feel good but it will also brighten your day.

I snapped this quick shot of a blossoming tree, the picture of course doesn't do it justice however you get the idea. Busy bee's are hovering all around the tree, preparing the honey for our tea :)

Last week I posted about the vegetable garden we are building in my moms backyard. Sunday was the perfect day to finish the construction. Laural, Krystle and I went to work for several hours to construct this giant bed!!! I cannot wait to put soil in and plant those delightful little veggies and LOTS of beans because beans beans the magical fruit the more you eat them the more you toot :D

I received an email that almost made me cry this week, the letter was as follows.

"I have to admit I have heard about your rise to fashion fame over the past few years but I was rather blown away last week. I was shooting the Rainbow Society event and make no mistake, I spotted your pieces amongst the model chaos instantly. (I've even noticed a few Winnipegers out and about sporting some exclusively rad jeans!)

Anyways, I've been editing the images for Swish over the past week and I'm still blown away by your work as it clearly stands out from the rest; thus from one artist to another, I felt the need to tell you so..."

I've left out her name for privacy but wow even when I'm writing/proofing this now it brings a little bit of warmth to my heart, what a wonderful thing to write to someone :D Again as I said at the start of this weeks post, go out of your way to smile at someone today!

One last thing, the launch event for the Winnipeg Fashion Incubator is THIS THURSDAY MAY 19TH at Fame nightclub (279 garry st)!!!!!! I've posted the link to the event page on facebook, please join and share the event so we can get the turn out the event needs :D

Open Studio, Fashion Show, Breakfasts and Upcoming

This past week was a mix of a whole lot! I had my public studio showing on Friday and Saturday, A BIG THANK YOU to those who came down to support my way of life :D

Everyone who attended gave me great feedback on the work I've been doing, that meant a great deal to me!Whats a showing without beautiful friends :)
This was part of my installation for the show, I love the way it was received and cannot wait to explore more. Stay tuned for more...

This is the Julie Dress, I was inspired the other day and created this little number. Because I only made one and will only make one the dress is named after the girl who bought it :D

Immediately after the showing on Saturday I grabbed my collection and jumped in a cab to the Delta Hotel. Swish Model Management (http://www.swishmodelmanagement.com/) was hosting a fashion show in support of the Rainbow Resource Center. Swish was kind enough to ask for my collection in this VERY professional fashion show. Thank you Swish! The photo below was the finale, hence all the models on the runway at the same time.

Rory was headed to England on Sunday, so amidst the flurry of things I was doing for the show I managed to make his pair of jeans and deliver after the fashion show...As you might have guessed I didn't really get much sleep on the weekend.
I really like the two tone prairie grass stitching I did for him!

I had breakfast with my mom the other day in the Underground Cafe which is located in the Silpit building on Arthur street in the exchange district, I love the art on the walls!!! such a beautiful place, very cozy. I strongly suggest!

Its garden season and My mom and Sister above are talking about our new garden!!! It will be a raised bed because the ground in that part of my moms yard used to be a parking pad. I cannot wait to get my green thumb working hard in the vegetable garden to get the rewards of fresh organic food!

My sister made this dessert for breakfast on Sunday, It was EPIC!!!!!!

Shorts, Hockey, Shoots and Politics

Good morning, Good day, Good Evening wherever you might be in the world :) Its amazing that I can post something on the inter-web and many friends from around the world can see and interact with what I've posted. This brings a smile to my face to know we are all connected :D

This week in product I'm showing you a pair of denim shorts I made for my client Corey, he wanted shorts made of denim with zipper pockets so nothing would fall out while he was sitting. He was very happy with the above and below pair :)

Only one back pocket was wanted by this gentleman and being a lefty he wanted it on the left :)

It was a sad week for Montreal fans as they saw the beloved Canadians bow out of the playoffs with a dramatic overtime lose to the Boston Bruins. My girlfriend was very upset...sorry hun, maybe next year!!! I'm pretty bummed too because she looked so cute in her little Canadians jersey!

I found this little picture in the newspaper and chuckled a little, I hope you enjoy it too. Today is voting day in Canada...AGAIN!!!! GEEZZZZZZ lets vote Stephen Harper out!!! Obviously he isn't doing a good job or else we wouldn't keep going to the polls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Does anyone else hate that we cant vote directly for the prime minister? I've been talking with many individuals who want to vote for Jack Layton however they do not like the NDP representative in their riding. I've also heard many conservatives say that they are voting conservative however given the chance to vote for the leader of our country they say Layton is the best fit...hmmmm I believe change needs to be made to our system...

This past week was busy and hectic for me because I was gearing up for my spring/summer shoot for 2012. Ryan Wibawa of http://www.virulentvalmont.com/ is in this picture above, it was a pleasure watching him create his art from my clothing and some beautiful models!!!

The studio was transformed for a day of shooting, above Model Akosua of http://www.swishmodelmanagement.com/index.php

I cannot wait to see what wizardry Ryan produces with this shoot!

I'm glad it was cold and rainy outside because it was HOT in the studio!!! hehehe too much?

DON'T FORGET my studio is open to the public THIS FRIDAY, MAY 6th from 5-11 pm to showcase my latest paintings and clothing!!! If you cannot make it on Friday, be sure to come by the NEXT DAY Saturday May 7th from 11am - 5pm to get your fill!!!

So another week opens up to us friends, lets explore the world and see what it has in-store for us! Continue to treat others around you with love and respect as the world will do the same for you.

Love

limos, pants, shorts and boning

Good morning, afternoon, or evening depending on when your reading this :) another week has gone by, the weather is getting warmer, the suns rays are sparking life into the ground and spring has begun :)

Thought I would start off by showing these pairs of dress pants made for a delightful restaurant manager. "Booya" (his nickname coined from his last name) is a sharp dresser and I believe the purple pants are going to be a wonderful addition to his arsenal of clothing!

Krystle and I decided to have shiskabobs for dinner, mushrooms, red peppers, onions and ELK MEAT :) If you haven't been lucky enough to try elk, go out of your way and find some, ITS SOOOOOOO GOOD!!!!

While cooking on the BBQ the sun was displaying its magic as it descended out of sight. Breathtaking!

This is Windsor United's new soccer (proper football) jerseys. We couldn't find a sponsor who would donate to our team so the guys surprised me with this!!! I was shocked and VERY honoured that they would do that for me!!! I have some of the best friends around!!!!! Also if you are free May 6th and ready to party the team is having a social at the legion on river ave!!

I've been working with my mentor Alex Espinosa the last couple days, hes teaching me how to make an elegant grad gown for Devin, who graduates this spring. Congratulations Devin!!!

BONING!!! Geez laaaaweeeezzzz we had to put a ton of boning into her dress to make sure it stays on! We are making a strapless corset top with a frilled pedal bottom!!! more pictures to come!!!

Spring is upon us which means SHORTS!!!! If you would like me to turn your old pants into shorts I WOULD BE MORE THEN HAPPY TO :) :D :)

This wonderful little bag is my latest creation, its dedicated for all of you who hate things in your pockets and don't want to carry a hug bag!!! You can wear the "pouch" several ways, around the shoulder, around the waist, you can take off the belt strap and wear just the "pouch" hanging from your belt loops!!! It has a zipper underneath the flap for added security!!! I have made several in different colours and fabrics. Come by the studio to pick one up!

Saturday night was my friend Jacqueline's birthday, she is an absolutely wonderful woman who hosts the most fabulous parties!!! Snapped this shot of one of her famous platters she always puts out!!! ohhh meee ohhh my the green peppercorn cheese was amazing!!!

This book was on a coffee table and thought it was a funny but offensive title for a book, the author was obviously going for shock value!

We took a limo from Jacqueline's to the social at Mystique nightclub. This shot of my sister Laural definitely describes how silly and AWESOME the ride was. Highlight of the trip was "Rasputin" by Boney M blaring over the radio and Stephanie doing the classic arms crossed dip Russian dance. SOOOOOO GOOOOD!!! Below is the song on youtube, disco lives on!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvDMlk3kSYg

The silliness continued when we arrived at the club, dancing up a storm acting all crazy and LOVING IT!!! we had such a blast!!!! What a great night ladies!!!! Mystique has such a wicked layout but no one goes, I wish it was still desire...

On a more serious note if you can spare 14 minutes you should really check out this video my friend Aaron forwarded me from Ted.com. Its all about becoming a more green community and how we can use natures genius in architecture. I really recommend it!!

http://www.ted.com/talks/michael_pawlyn_using_nature_s_genius_in_architecture.html

One last thing before I leave you till next week, my open house showing is May 6th from 5pm - 11pm and May 7th from 11am - 5pm :) See you all then and have a great week friends!

Auction, Art show, Wedding and Beauty

Ohhh Winnipeg, what a busy little week we've had :)

Went to the Winnipeg police bicycle auction on Saturday. I was super duper far from the stage and bought theeee worst bicycle known to man for $100!!! Anyone who went will tell you about the hordes of people and how you couldn't really see the bikes...until you bought them. I felt ripped off but only have myself to blame...darn

I was cruising on my bike when I came around the corner and saw this!!! WTF!!! how the hell does this happen!!! I'm seriously going to verbally assault the next person I see litter

Friday night was fun filled art good times!!! Went to the Cre8ery to help support the gallery, they were having an art auction of pieces donated by several artists. Along with the donated pieces was a performance from these two, quirky, odd, fun was exhibited. They even put a ridiculous amount of shaving cream in their hair....great transformation!!!

It snowed again...at first I wasn't pleased about the snow but then saw the beauty that it brought, there really is something to be said about snow covered trees. Taking in the beauty of nature is a must for all :)

Flood waters are high, send positive vibrations for all those affected

Last night I went to the Louis Riel High school fashion show, the kids did an excellent job of putting on a wonderful show!!! They have one more show tonight if your interested!!! (Monday night)

After leaving the show I looked up to see a wonderful display of cloud formations above me, I stopped and starred for a while, wow was it pretty!

Of course amongst all the things happening in this great city, I found time to work on several projects. These vests (actually 4 here) are for the wedding party of Devin. Of course they aren't done yet but I thought I'd give a little preview showing that I can now do ties :)

That's all for this week friends, be sure to check out next weeks post :) Oh and I almost forgot, I'm having a showcase of my latest works May 6th from 5pm - 11 pm and May 7th 11am - 5pm. Of course this will be at my studio 89 Princess St :)

until next week,
be well and stay true :)

its a long post

Sorry for the long delay in posts everyone, It wont happen again because I've figured out a schedule :) Every Monday I will do my best to post a little something from the week I've had for your viewing pleasure.

This Polaroid was snapped by Mike Talastas a very talented videographer/photographer doing some big things with his main man Josh Tamayo (photographer/videographer.

Check them out at http://www.li7photo.com/
or scope the duos latest videos at http://vimeo.com/user2810413/videos

I came across this chair a week or so ago, thought it was just the happiest little chair around! smile on chair, smile on

I was at the legion the other night, guys bathrooms are disgusting!!! I wonder if someone strategically placed the beer in the toilet or if it just happened this way...

I painted for the first time since before Christmas, ohhhhh man was I excited to get the brush flowing again. I'm really happy with this one titled, "three become one"

SPRING!!!! I went to visit my mentor Alex a week and a bit ago and saw my first flower in his garden, ohhhh meeee ohhhh my I'm excited for what is about to come :)

On another note, whats with all the garbage around our city? The snow has receded to showcase what slobs us Winnipegers are? Do people not realize that when they litter on the ground, someone else has to pick it up again?

My nephew came in from Vancouver to visit, we went to paladin restaurant. The waitress rocked his world by bringing him a bunch of creamers to play with. He created an impressive tower then acted like a zombie, my sister Laural laughed as I snapped this picture. I love my small family :)

On to some work...
This pair of jeans is for a very stylish and talented man here in Winnipeg. Notice the red stripe down the side on this beautiful raw 14oz indigo red denim!!!! sublime

This pair is for a friend named Kirk, He wanted something for summer so I made him this sick denim. These lightweight jeans were a perfect fit for his neutral style.

This is the first pair of two tone frost detailing, I'm very happy with the end product

I love taking shots when my tools are all strewn around my table

Last but not least is this pair I made for a client of mine, he loved the sheen this poly/cotton had so I threw some patchwork and frost to top them off!

I've also been hard at work making womans jackets, dresses and tops for my upcoming showing of work. Friday May 6th between 5-10 and Saturday May 7th between 11 - 5 I'll open the doors to the studio and let all you come and see my latest creations!!! Come early because as you all know my work is limited :)

stay fresh, smiling and open friends
Much love
