Back to work

Good morning, afternoon or evening depending on when you read this.

The wonderful tunes of Beirut's album the Rip tide are playing as I slowly organize the studio of Lennard Taylor. December is always a busy month, with craft sales, orders, demands and then the chaos of making presents for family and friends. Im sure you all know what I am talking about! The smooth rhythms that Beirut play make me coast into the work cycle again, not easy but its happening. There is a warmth in my heart about this next year, I feel it will be a very big one, well at least here is to hoping :D

Leather, I am obsessed, I want to continue making leather pieces over and over! Raw edged leathers smooth as butter made into jackets with minimal snaps makes the wearer feel like royalty. I have a couple, oh me oh my I loves them!!! A friend of mine just got back from Turkey and brought me a few lamb skins which feel so good I am scared to work with them!!!! I'll post some pictures soon.

One last thing, Love one another, be with love and love will surround those around you.

Be well friends :)

Thank you to those who came to the WFI first fashion market this past weekend at Red River College!!! I sit on a board for the First Fridays committee which is a group of wonderful men and women who promote and plan First Fridays in the exchange district. Basically the First Friday of each month, artists in the exchange district open up their studios to the public in hopes that they will buy their creations. Its a great way to be up close to what artists studios are like and to be able to ask any questions in an intimate setting. Please come out and support what we do :) First Fridays Website

A friend of mine named Jeff Barkman recently asked me to listen to his album which just dropped on Itunes!!! I very much enjoyed the music and thought I would share that with you!!! Take a look and support a talented guy who puts his heart and soul into his music!

Not going to lie, blogging got to me a little bit. I dreaded having to post a huge long posts every week. Alright so here is whats happening with Lennard Taylor, I'm making a painting for Al Gore (yes the man who should have been president instead of that moron bush!) I really wish Gore would have been pres. for the reason that he would have changed our planet for the better!!!

I am busy making garments, mainly leather jackets, accessories and JEANS!!!! I look forward to sharing some new photos with you soon :)

Trips, Garden, Jeans, Jackets, Paintings and Owls

Hello again everyone!!! Sorry for the super long wait for another post, life has been crazy for me, and I really need to buy a laptop so I can keep up with computer work while I'm away from the studio. So a big apology from me. I'm sorry!!!

An OWL!!! I was walking along at the fringe and saw this lady holding a beautiful owl, I asked if I could take a picture to share with all of you. Isn't she a beauty!!!! I was stunned with how wonderful the eyes of this little creature are!!! I've never seen one close up, until now...keep doing your part to save the wilderness!!!!

This is a painting I made for a delightful woman, she wanted something unique for her new place, this is what I came up with and she is very happy...which makes me happy :D

A pair of jeans I made for a dancing girl, I really like the patchwork :)

A piece I'm working on right now, I like where its going. I have a few paintings which I'm selling cheap right now, please call 791 4547 for an appointment to view

Came across this in a paper, I had a chuckle, I hope you do too!

My group of friends and I do a huge camping trip every year. This year was camping 11 "beers in heaven" We went down to Apple river, which is just outside of Somerset, Wisconsin. We had 55 people go down and rented a greyhound bus. It was epic, so epic that i forgot to take pictures and only snapped this one...weird I know!

This jacket almost didn't make it out the door, I wanted to keep it soooooooooo bad. It now lives in Toronto with my friend Gary. Gary if your reading this I'm still upset I let you have it...

Justin just got married, this was his jacket I made for him. It looked AWESOME!!!! too bad Im the worst photographer and didn't take a picture of the lining I put in it!!!! GEEEEEEEEZZZZZ

Congratulations to the happy couple

I was blessed enough to go to Saltspring Island in BC on a Saturday. They have a market of all works from the island which are fantastic!!! In the market were my girlfriends cousins who screen print their own designs on t shirts, Freebird is the name of their company. We will be doing a collaboration very soon :)

Seattle was on the travel agenda, visited the Pike market, best memory of Seattle!!!

We traveled on the monorail, it is definitely for tourists because it only has one stop to and from the mall to the space needle/EMP museum...very short trip but still pretty cool!

We had planned on going to the EMP (experience music project) museum which was mind blowing!!! The museum is designed by frank Gehry and looks straight out of space!!! Spent several hours looking at the Hendrix and Nirvana memorabilia/stories before playing with all the instruments they have to play!!! They also have a neat exhibit showing/explaining the movie "Avatar" Really cool place

Went back to Victoria for a few days for my GF's family reunion. It was a blast, she has a great family who really accepted who I am, BIG thanks to all of them! This picture was taken on fisherman's wharf, its of a kids pirate ship which allows kids to really experience being a pirate, they get all decked out and go looking for buried treasure and shoot water cannons.

YES PLEASE MUMMMMMMMY!!!

Beauty of the sky taken from grams window in Victoria

Climbed to the top of mount Douglas for a nice view, you can do a three sixty and see most of Vancouver Island. Strongly suggest if you get a chance!

Returned home to Winnipeg and went straight to the garden to do some much needed work

one of the first crops
yum yum yum yum

Got a speeding ticket yesterday, super annoying $317 ticket!!! I snapped a picture of the policeman sitting at a bus stop doing the readings. Does anyone know if he can do that? moral of the story...DONT SPEEEEEEDD FAwk!!!!

I love the wonders of the sky, the cloud formations are always sooooo pretty!!!! Not really sure why my camera is cutting photos in half but whatevs you get the idea :)

That's all for now my friends, thanks for being you.

Continue to show love to the world and that love will come back to you.

Take care

Tanks, Fireworks, Folk Fest and Rings

Canada day fireworks are great! Osbourne street festival, not so much. Krystle and I road our bicycles down to the village for a lazy poke around the festivities, geeeeez was it griiiimeeey, what is it about a street being closed that brings all the gross people out???

Bicycle riding is the best :)

Im getting a friend of mine to make a bunch of rings for Lennard Taylor, her name is ALLEEEEXXXXANDRAAA and she has a studio on the third floor of the Exchange church building (corner of mcdermot and albert) She is extraordinarily talented, be sure to check out her work! When I get more rings, I'll post them up :D

Krystle and I went to Ninki sushi on Corydon, the spicy mango prawns are divine!

oh me oh my folk fest is almost here friends!!!! The sound of the bands playing, the birds soaring overhead, the sky pulsing with the energy of a thousand people dancing....ohhhh my being is shaking with anticipation!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHH :D :D :D :D

Be sure to check out my booth at the handmade village where all my cloths will be or best offer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Windsor United had a game last week at the Optimist park. Notice the ball in the tall tall grass??? First off who cuts the grass at this place because they should be fired, secondly why do we pay the league so much money. I think our team fees are somewhere around $5000 a season which gets us what exactly? A reef sometimes, a field with little to no maintenance other then cutting the grass and putting some lines down....hmmm someone is making a lot of money....

I thought this cloud formation was beautiful. With that said, how about the Hudson Bay Building, isn't it gorgeous!!!! I love it!!! oh and ps Investors group, turn your f'ing lights off when you go home!!!!

What is the obsession with Tim Hortons, I snapped this pic because I shit you not, 17 cars were waiting for the drive through...must be crack in that coffee because people cannot live without!

This is my daily life working with denim...

This beauty was made for Madison, I love it :)

a little preview of some new LT unisex tanks, they are hand painted with Oil paint :D each one unique just like you and me :D

Another week another post, keep living, breathing and spreading positive energy and love to all, see you next Monday friends :)

Love

Curtains, Grad Dress, Cabins and Preparations

Hello brothers and sisters, another week has come to a close which also means another week has just begun :D :D :D This past week I spent a ton of time sewing new garments for Folk fest and Fringe fest and of course finishing up custom orders for friends.

This photo is of curtains I made for my friend Dan.

Dan recently bought a house and wanted black out curtains, I think they turned out wonderful. More photos will be coming :)If you want custom curtains for your home please call 204 791 4547 or email info@lennardtaylor.com

Jazz Festival ended this week which lead into the MEME (electronic music) festival. They brought in the coolest trailer/bar I have ever come in contact with. It was a double wide very long trailer which had lounge chairs and flat screen TVs. On top of that "literally" was a roof deck patio where you could have a smoke and a beer in the tree tops. It was FANTASTIC!!!! If you look to the right hand side of the stage you will see it. I know I know right now you are thinking, "this is the best photo you took of it...geez" SORRY, my bad!!!!

A few weeks ago I told you about this grad dress that Alex and I were making, well I put the finishing touches on it this week and gave it to the girl. Unfortunately she was unable to pick it up so her mummmzzzzie did. I cannot wait to get the "good" photos of her. When I do, I'll post them again because I think she will look stunning in this garment.
This new technique of fraying the edges really turned out great!
Not going to lie tho, I really wanted to oil paint on this dress, she wouldn't let me :(

After a long week of work I was lucky enough to go out to a friends cabin for Saturday and Sunday. This is the Guertin families AMAZING boathouse or what I like to call the spa getaway. On the right hand side of it you will see a wooden box which is the sauna, on roof deck is a hot tub, on the left had side is the slide and obviously the diving board speaks for itself!!!! SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD!!!!!!

This is the rooftop patio, equipped with the most amazing furniture you've ever sat on, I mean this stuff is sooo comfy I wish I had it in my house!!! Keep the visual of the islands in your mind for a little later in the post :)

I thought I got a picture of all of us in the boat but I guess I messed up, I somehow missed Jackie in the photo!!!! Sorry Apple Jacks

Sunday was coming to a close which meant time to go home, Jackie and I had to pack up the water toys we played with. The rain was pouring down with all its might so we dressed up in some gear and ventured out. When we were finishing putting away the last paddle boat, the sky really opened up and dumped down! We stood under the boathouse and watched the beauty that was in front of us morph (remember the islands) their green trees were enhanced by the white backdrop of the intense rain which made it feel mythical and surreal because you could not see anything past them. The rain blanketed the lake and transformed it into a playground of dancing raindrops. Its very hard to explain the beauty that we saw in that moment but we both felt very lucky to experience it!

It was nice to get away after working 12 hour days in the past week. Why am I working so hard you might ask? Well I'm trying to prepare as much clothing "and myself" for selling at the Winnipeg Folk Festival and then the Winnipeg Fringe Festival. I will be clearing out all my stock so be sure to come see me early if you want some of my clothing made with love :D

I will continue my journey down this road we call life and I promise to enjoy and bring love to whomever I meet.

Be well my friends, I'll write next Monday :)
