Beauty, Folkfest, Fashion Shoots and friends

Good morning, afternoon or evening depending on the time you are reading this :D

I hope that each and every one of you are feeling the beauty of the world around you!  I know I am!!!  I wake each morning feeling a little groggy but as soon as I look out into the world we live, I cannot help but be moved by what I see!!!  The birds fly through the air, the fluffy clouds gently rolling by, the sounds of a fire truck whizzing by to help someone out.  Such beauty is all around us, we but need to shake our heads and see it for what it is, rather then taking it for granted.

I walk to work some mornings and happened to bump into a friend of mine from the city, here we were just chatting away about our wonderful city and I posed the question, "why is there so much garbage around?  I mean do people not understand that someone has to pick up your litter?  Do they have no respect?"  He answered with, "its our society, we do not care to see, we do not have much morels or care for anything."  He went on to tell me that something as simple as J-walking is frowned upon in other societies and in our society it is socially acceptable.  He raised a very good point!!!  Do you J-walk?  I know I J-walked at any chance I could get, even sometimes crossing directly across the intersection if I could.  Now that he has opened my eyes I am trying my best not to J-Walk.  As for the garbage I pick up as much as I can as I go along.  Can you do me a favour and do the same?  I hope we can be the change together :D

I recently did a photo shoot with Ryan Wibawa using a couple gentlemen from Swish Model Management!!!  It was an amazing collaborative shoot!!!  The campaign was a huge success and I look forward to shooting with the team again soon!!!  You can see the pictures posted on the Swish Models Blog, just scroll down a little bit and you'll see them :D

In other news the Lennard Taylor Team has been working very hard to make clothing and accessories for this years Winnipeg Folk Festival.  If you have never been or never heard of the Winnipeg Folk Festival then my goodness you NEED TOO!!!!!  Its a delightful celebration of music, food and of course shopping!!!!  The line up this year is breathtaking and the festival is always a rare mix of delightful love and inspiration.  Be sure to check out the Foklfest Site and the Handmade village vendors list!!!

In the past little while I have been blessed with going on Breakfast TV in the mornings to talk about fashions!!!  If you would like to see some of the clips please have a look by clicking right here :D

In closing for this post I would like to thank all of you for your continued support and I look forward to seeing you all soon!  Please feel free to send feedback on anything your heart desires to info@lennardtaylor.com and ps. It doesn't have to be about the brand, it could simply be something that makes you feel anything :D

Be well my lovely friends and remember, each thing in our world is beautiful, you only need to open your heart and mind to see it for what it truly is.

Smiles and hugs,
Lennard Taylor

Fashion show and Boutique

Good day to you all, I hope this message finds you positive and full of energy!!!  On April 26th, 2012 the Lennard Taylor team put on a fashion show at our Studio/Boutique which was open to the public.  We thought the show would be well attended but were all blown away at the magnitude of the support we got that night.  If you were able to attend, thank you very much!  If not then you'll have to make sure you come see the next show September 27th, 2012.  I promise not to disappoint, details will be leaked soon :D

Before the show came to be I was extremely lucky to meet the Gentleman from At First Site Cinematography.  They explained to me that film making is their passion and while they are happy doing commercial work, every once in a while they enjoy filming something they feel will be exciting to them.  Lucky me they choose to do something on Lennard Taylor, and since I had a show coming up they thought what better time to start :D  We met a few more times and the Gents filmed me as I went about my daily work and of course asked me a bunch of questions.  The questions part was pretty funny because they would ask something and I would gab gab gab, I don't know if it was the nervousness of being on camera, or whether I was just that excited to tell the story of Lennard Taylor.  Either way once I clued into how much I was chatting I would apologize for being such a chatter box and they would say hey no worries, that's what we need!!!  Either way we had a laugh about it.

I hope you enjoyed the BRILLIANCE of the cinematography that the guys AT FIRST SITE created!!!  I know it moves me in a way which words cant seem to express.  A HUGE THANK YOU to all your hard work guys!  Keep up the creativity and thank you so much for being part of Lennard Taylor!

In other news I'm chaining myself to my sewing machines for the next 4 weeks!!!  Yup thats right, I am a slave to the brand!  Hmmm maybe that came out wrong...I'll put it this way, I am determined to have a successful showing at the Winnipeg Folk Festival July 7th and 8th.  Yes that's right Lennard Taylor will be right in the heart of the handmade village!!!  Literally I am in the middle of the handmade village.  As you walk into the market you will see me on the right hand side half way down :D        OHHHH ME OHHHH  MY I CANNOT WAIT!!!!

Well im sure if you've read all this you are sick of the way I type/talk, so I will leave you with one last message.  COME VISIT THE BOUTIQUE!!!!  Richard and I are in the studio/boutique working away, come visit!!!!
 89 Princess st Tuesday - Friday 11am - 7pm and Saturday 12noon-5pm

Thank you all for reading and watching.  Be well and make sure you enjoy the little things in your day :D

Much love,
Lennard Taylor

High as an artist

Was painting some more shirts of the "its raining" series tonight and started to get a splitting head ache. It got so bad that I had to stop creating. In packing up I turned my chair around and noticed the big bottle of paint thinner had been left open from a previous painting night. Clearly I felt like an idiot, thankfully I didn't spill it!!!

Not to self and anyone reading this. Make sure you clean up properly!

Its taken me a really long time to write this as i feel high from the paint thinner....thankfully my head is starting to feel a little better now :)

Just a heads up the "its raining" series of art shirts will be for sale at my spring show (April 26) so mark your calendars and tell your friends :)

A little bit of everything

Hello, long time no blog hey?!? Sorry about that friends, I really wanted to post on several occasions however due to the virus that has destoryed my computer I was unable to do so. That is a little bit of a cop out, because yes of course I could go out of my way and find a place to use the computer to do the post. Yes I could have done that but then I would have slowed down on the production on my newest line :)

Thats right, last week I was lucky enough to work with Samanta (photographer) to shoot my Fall/Winter 2012 Lennard Taylor Collection! YAYYYYYYYYYY!!! I am very pleased with the creations, and the photos are spectacular! As soon as its all put together I will let you all know by posting on here :)

I wanted to touch base about a friend of mine named Brendon. Him and I were introduced to each other this past summer and have kind of hit it off. Brendon makes unbelievable bags, backpacks, toe straps for bicycles and a few other wicked items. (He also lets me sew some leathers at his studio which is in the exchange church around the corner) Now I try and live a pretty neutral life, I try not to cause harm and try and help those around me when they need. Brendon goes above and beyond almost everyday! Just this past week I was sewing at the Exchange community Church and this crack cocaine addict was having bad withdrawals asked for help. Brendon instantly dropped everything and spent and hour or so on the phone and then ended up taking the guy to a couple places to get him all sorted for the rehab course. Now this isn't the first time he has helped out the homeless in the community, he regularly feeds the lot of them in the church out of his own pocket. He is an inspiration and truly a wonderful human being, just thought you all should know!

In other news I had a fashion show this past weekend for the Never Alone Foundation. The event must have had over 150 volunteers of models, dancers, choreographers, hair, makeup etc etc etc. Wow it was quite a production! I was very pleased to be part of it!!! I will post a video of it as soon as I can :)

I have a couple other opportunities which are starting to blossom, so please keep sending those positive vibes my way and I'll reciprocate by sending more positive vibes out! Much love friends

The First week back is always the hardest

Hello everyone and happy new year :) How were all your holidays? I trust they were wonderful!!!! Please email with warm stories to info@lennardtaylor.com

I started working again after a week off during the holidays, wow what a shocker to get back into it. Monday and Tuesday were returning emails and sketching the final drafts for my 2012 F/W collection. Wednesday was organization and completing application forms for Folkfest and Fringe and then proper football (soccer) of which I busted and crushed my holiday worn body.

owwweeeeeee was thursday morning, my neck and back messed up. I tossed my phone to what I thought was my jacket/sweater and missed and broke it, came to my computer to get phone numbers/emails for people I needed to contact and a virus had destroyed my computer! (I curse hackers/virus makers)

Shoulders/neck still aching I pushed through the rest of the week. The positive that I took away from all the downers of the past week was the fact that I stayed mindful that everything has an opposite reaction. That being said I was saying to myself that while all this bad is happening it must mean that somewhere along the line, something wonderful will happen, this makes me smile! :D

A new week has begun and wowwwzzaaa what a different from last week, I woke this morning bursting with love and energy!!! I am finishing my collection for Fall Winter 2012, Im very excited about this one friends!!!! oooh meee oh my life is wonderful!!! Enjoy the warmth of another day on this wonderful planet!!!!

In other news I have started tweeting :) please follow me @lennardTaylor

Be well and keep smiling,
LT

Back to work

Good morning, afternoon or evening depending on when you read this.

The wonderful tunes of Beirut's album the Rip tide are playing as I slowly organize the studio of Lennard Taylor. December is always a busy month, with craft sales, orders, demands and then the chaos of making presents for family and friends. Im sure you all know what I am talking about! The smooth rhythms that Beirut play make me coast into the work cycle again, not easy but its happening. There is a warmth in my heart about this next year, I feel it will be a very big one, well at least here is to hoping :D

Leather, I am obsessed, I want to continue making leather pieces over and over! Raw edged leathers smooth as butter made into jackets with minimal snaps makes the wearer feel like royalty. I have a couple, oh me oh my I loves them!!! A friend of mine just got back from Turkey and brought me a few lamb skins which feel so good I am scared to work with them!!!! I'll post some pictures soon.

One last thing, Love one another, be with love and love will surround those around you.

Be well friends :)

Dec 12, 2011

Thank you to those who came to the WFI first fashion market this past weekend at Red River College!!! It was a huge success and I look forward to the next market which is scheduled for April 7th 2012 at the Red River College, Roblin Center (princess st campus) DONT MISS OUT, mark it in your calender today! WFI Website

I sit on a board for the First Fridays committee which is a group of wonderful men and women who promote and plan First Fridays in the exchange district. Basically the First Friday of each month, artists in the exchange district open up their studios to the public in hopes that they will buy their creations. Its a great way to be up close to what artists studios are like and to be able to ask any questions in an intimate setting. Please come out and support what we do :) First Fridays Website

A friend of mine named Jeff Barkman recently asked me to listen to his album which just dropped on Itunes!!! I very much enjoyed the music and thought I would share that with you!!! Take a look and support a talented guy who puts his heart and soul into his music!
